TNT Post

TNT Post came to us with a requirement to deliver an intranet. The initial brief was to provide a standard intranet to deliver information to the various departments which could be locked down in terms of ownership and content delivery by their LDAP server. We thought that this was a little unambitious, and decided that they would be better off with something a little more user-centric.

We took some of our experience of social networking sites and assumed that most of the staff would be familiar the concept of adding friends and creating a custom experience for themselves. Our proposal was based around TNT staff being able to add specific contacts to their list of favourites, having personal avatars, being able to create and add contacts to specific projects – all through an easy to use interface.

The content on the site is managed through a customised version of involve – allowing all content to be managed through a simple toolbar appearing at the top of the web page when logged in.

The system was designed and developed by 3ev before we were given the enviable task of deploying to their Windows network and working with their LDAP server. Training in the system was a breeze as we managed to train all main stakeholders within the organisation in a single day – as it should be.
