Recreation at 3ev

The guys at 3ev like to stretch their legs from time to time and get away from the computer screens.  Danny is well versed at Squash and welcomes the challenge from any of the others.  On the other hand, Simon and I feel more at home on the Badminton court.  I wouldn’t mind a quick challenge on the table tennis table as well. It looks like a racket sport bonanza is on the cards!

Tim and I both take full advantage of the newly recognised national park that is the South Downs.  This beautiful landscape has a popular national trail that stretches from Winchester in Hamshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex, called The South Downs Way.  It can be walked, cycled or ridden upon by horse back.  Tim cycles on the trail regularly whilst I am hoping this summer to cycle the 100 mile distance in just 1 day.

As can be seen from Dean’s post, he gets to work on his skateboard. What an amazing way to get around!  Traffic in Brighton is hopeless, so getting around has to be done by either bike or some other imaginative means of transport.  Dean has hit the nail on the head with this one.

One other activity that I’m determined to spread around the office (with Danny’s help) is Ultimate Frisbee.  As we go down to Hove Lawns on our lunch break this summer I dont know how ‘Ultimate’ it will be.

Danny has had a lot of practice with a disc.  I got into Ultimate Frisbee whilst at Sussex Uni with the Mohawks.  For those unsure, its a team sport. The team with possession of the frisbee try moving up the pitch by passing it. If a player has the disc they can’t move (same as Netball).  They score by completing a pass into the opponent’s end zone (like American Football).  A team’s typical outdoor score will reach 15 ish. Games are 90 minutes long with 7 players on each team.

As for the others in the office; Dan, Andrei and Ben (G), I dont know what you do out of work. I’ve only been at 3ev a little while. They probably just need to get out more.!

Out of work, I play with very cool things like Node.js (Evented I/O for V8 javascript as they call it). I’m also currently teaching my wife how to stay balanced on rollerblades.
