Danny Knight
Producer
Danny arrived from Newcastle and began work at 3ev in 2006. Originally from around these parts Danny began work as a developer. It soon became apparent that Danny had exemplary people skills and that these were somewhat wasted in spending most of the day in front of code. Danny became lead developer on a couple of projects for Heinz and most notably lead the development of the Chemical Brothers’ site in 2007. Danny has the perfect match of technical knowledge, and attention to detail. After a short break in 2009 Danny returned to 3ev as our Producer. The job description for the role advertised: Our Clients must love you… we are confident that they do!
Dan Frost
Technical Director
Dan has been working in CMS and web app development for 7 years since getting two degrees (one in music, the other in electronic publishing). Involved in core TYPO3 development as well as various established and emerging open source projects, he is responsible for driving forward some of the most radical improvements within 3ev in recent years.
Dan manages technical aspects of the company, ensuring the technical integrity in 3ev’s projects. He has an extensive knowledge of music, is a keen pianist and also keeps chickens. Dan spends any spare time researching new technologies and writing about them for the internet press.
Tim Carr
Managing Director, Founder
Tim has worked in the web industry since 1995 for clients including the FT and The Economist before founding 3rd Eye Vision in summer 1998.
Passionate about delivering a best-fit solution and obsessive about usability, his direction ensures that 3ev deliver simple solutions for complex requirements.
Ben Grout
Technical Lead
Grout the Younger – brother of Simon, Ben is our technical lead. Ben understands that for something to work in technical terms, it has to work in human terms too. Whereas developers see beauty in the code, Ben is obsessive about ensuring the end result; how it works. Essential to any project we take on, Ben's eye for detail finds solutions to the trickiest of projects before our developers get to view them. Ben has a love of music including Opera, and enjoys summer trips to Glyndebourne.
Dean Hayden
Design Chief
At 3ev we have long been in awe of Dean’s design skills. Dean has been responsible for the design output of 3ev for the past 5 years, working on projects for clients from The Chemical Brothers to Glyndebourne and from TNT Post to Twinings. Dean marries a rare yet delightful combination in design: expertise in usability, a flare for exciting and engaging visuals with a detailed understanding of front-end technologies.
You can imagine our delight when in early 2010 Dean made the jump from running his own agency, Aespec, to join us as our full time design chief. Dean is awesome – a true design ninja!
Simon Grout
Senior Developer
Grout the Elder, brother of Ben. Simon prides himself in being our client-friendly developer – able to translate complex technical talk into plain English! An expert planner – he ensures that development plans are realistic and adhered to. Simon’s take on it all is that it isn’t just about producing beautiful code – but the beauty of the end product – he builds websites, not code. He has a passion for the font Helvetica and the City New York. He’s reliably 3ev’s all-round Mr Nice Guy!
We are greater than the sum of our parts. We thrive off each others input, across disciplines and between roles.
